Prayer Meetings and Speaker Announcements

In Family News, Schedule of Events on May 30, 2011 at 3:55 am

Today there are a lot of prayers being said as the family gathers this Memorial Day at Asteo at Grandma’s residence.  I called to speak to Mom (Anicia Quitugua Tomokane) and one of Grandma’s sisters answered the phone letting me know that the family is still not doing well and that they have been busy with meals.

Yesterday, Mom was able to go around some key villages on Saipan and make announcements over a pa system.  Lt. Governor Eloy Inos graciously donated his pa system and he and Ignacio Demapan, Special Assistant for Indigenous Affairs, mounted it to one of the Lt. Governor’s relative’s truck.  They went around the villages of Capital Hill, Asteo, Talofofo, and Kagman — the key surrounding villages where they might be located.  She called out to the girls saying their names and that the family is looking for them and misses them.  Mom didn’t know about the military’s helicopter search and it was happening at the same time.  She told them that if they saw the helicopter, wherever they were, to go to it and wave and hold hands and they would come get them.  Mom said that people got out of their homes and were waving as they drove past and some of them were even sobbing.   Our hearts are torn as well as the community.

They are going to try to go around again this afternoon. We might be able to get a picture of them by tonight or tomorrow.

There are so many donations of hard work for searches, distribution of fliers, making of meals, water, ice, fruit from people’s trees, vegetables, and prayer.  We know that a lot of you are also sacrificing so much even when gas prices are so high.  Thank you for being so unselfish.  Mom has said that it has been especially encouraging to see non-family members help out.  It gives the family renewed strength to face each day.  We thank everyone for their love and sacrifice.

A Website Made and a BigThank You from the Family

In Family News on May 28, 2011 at 7:35 am

We have received so many phone calls and help since everyone on Saipan has found out on Thursday, May 26, 2011 that our relatives Faloma (10) and Maleina (9) Quitugua Luhk have been missing since Wednesday . Thank you very much for helping our family during this tragic time.

We know that many of you would like to know what the current status is, whether we’ve found them, if there are any leads, and how you can help. There are also certain events that are taking place that not everyone is finding out about such as search groups and prayer meetings. We will try to post here as often as we can when we get an update of those events as well as other information.

Thank you for any assistance and prayer,

The family
